Energy Usage for September 2016

This is the report of the energy we used as a school in September. It is easy to spot the weekends and also the time of day that we use the most energy.

This term we are involved in Switch Off Fortnight, it will be interesting to see if our energy usage has gone down at all!

Remember, Switch off those unnecessary lights and appliances!

 

 

Anti-Bullying week!

Miss Ifould presented us with an assembly about Anti-Bullying week, using quizzes, multiple choice questions!

The Polygon does the Mannequin Challenge

Today in our Drama class the Polygon School took part in the latest internet craze, "The Mannequin Challenge!"

We first learnt about Tableaux and still image as dramatic techniques and how they were being used in this current musical statues idea.

After watching a few examples online, the class created their own scenes including a football match and classroom scene. Here is a video of our go at a classroom mannequin challenge complete with; hard study, a misbehaving pupil and a stern teacher!

Year 7 Maths Lesson

They are starting to come to grips with the demands of algebra-a very difficult topic!

Cinema Trip

Supermoon

Super Moon

I don't know about bigger, but it was definitely brighter.

Apparently the moon looked 14 per cent bigger and up to 30 per cent brighter than usual, I didn't get a brilliant picture. Aberdeenshire in Scotland and north-eastern parts of Wales had the clearest conditions for an unobstructed view, but did anyone else get a better picture than this one?

The next time the moon will be so large and bright will be in 2034. There is a prize for any student who can tell me why it looks so bright at the moment and why it will be so long till it looks this large again.

Switch Off Fortnight

Pupils and staff will be working to reduce our energy usage in the next fortnight

• making sure we turn lights off when leaving rooms
• turning appliances off rather than leaving them in standby
• closing doors and windows

Can you think of other ways we might save energy?

Pupils will be completing audits during cross-curriculum activities to see if we are making a difference.

Games Club 10/11/16

Well done to the following pupils that attended Games Club this week; Leon, Alfie, Jack and Jaiden.

Games included; K'Nex, iPads and Connect 4.

Pupils had the opportunity to gain bonus Hot Chocolate points if they could beat Mr. Lloyd at Connect 4 and congratulations to Jaiden who was able to fill his reward card after needing just 2 wins!

RE and Humanities Rewards

Remember this term Hot Chocolate Reward Cards have been introduced for all pupils. Your card will look like Deacon's one below.

It is important to read the comments on your work so that you can improve. Examples are shown below.

 



 

Once you have read the comments you can claim your bonus Hot Chocolate points and add them to your reward card. Read comments will be circled.

This week we our topic is World War 1 and Remembrance Day. We have also talked about the US Elections, where we discovered that Donald Trump is now the new president.
