EBP South Amazing People Awards 2018

 

 

This year we, as a school, were lucky enough to be nominated for the category of Outstanding School for Careers Education. While we did not win it was inspiring to see the work that other schools in our locality put into careers education.

 

 

One of our 2018 Year 11 pupils was also nominated in the category of Outstanding Pupil for Work Experience. We are proud to announce that Fred was successful in winning his category and attended the awards ceremony this week.

Fred attended an extended placement at Attitude Cycles, Southampton and learnt many useful life and work skills. They encouraged and guided Fred and our thanks go to them for their support and offer of a work experience placement. The skills that Fred learnt have aided him in his successful transition to Southampton City College where he is having great success.

Our thanks go to Attitude Cycles and congratulations to Fred for his achievement. We are all very proud.

PiXL Edge Construction Club @ Morris House

 

As part of our PiXL Edge sessions at Morris House the pupils wanted to do a challenge that would stretch them and test their resilience and organisational levels.

 

 

Each of the 3 pupils had a different project and worked independently. It was great to see the pupils concentrating and engaged in their own projects and encouraging each other.

Pupils at Morris House have a varied curriculum and life skills is a big part of that. Our pupils have weekly Food Tech lessons both on the main school site and at Morris House.

 

Below are pictures of 2 of our pupils cooking home made kebabs. They tell me they tasted delicious, so delicious that they wouldn't share!!

 

 



The Musication Station

Thursday, 1st November 2018

3KP went to The Festival Place in Basingstoke to participate in The Musication Station project which allowed them to try an assortment of musical instruments.

The workshop leader Flis from Anvil Arts taught boys how to play a guitar, bass, electric drums, keyboard and ukulele.

 AJ taught her the floss dance. She then performed her own song and played a guitar.

Pupils at Morris House this week took it upon themselves to tidy their environment.

 

The pupils were measuring the car park as a part of their Maths lesson and noticed quite a few leaves around so got to sweeping.

 

3 bags of leaves went to the compost heap and the car park was tidy and clear.

 



HIghlights from our VLE - Doddle so far from this academic year

Each week we run a competition where we reward success on our Doddle for tutor groups and individuals.  With 86% of pupils having completed work on our Doddle so far this academic year it is a great time to highlight some of our successes:

• x5 different pupils completing the most work in a week across both key stages

•  x3 different Doddle Champions across both key stages
•  Total for the year so far = 1553, compared to last year = 1697
  
• Work has been completed on Inset Days, weekends and during the holidays!!!

Who will win the awards this week?

Solent engineering fest visit

On Thursday 08/11/2018, a couple pupils visited the Solent engineering festival. They had the chance to speak to many different companies about what they do. There was space engineering projects, boat engine building, Royal Navy, Royal Air force, Army and many more. All speaking and demonstrating what, why and how they do their work.

 The idea behind the festival was to provide young people with information of the different opportunities with in engineering. Many of the companies spoke about apprenticeships and how they are a vital role with the company.
