Power Boating

On Thursday and Friday our boys were lucky enough to be taken power boating by Wetwheels in Hamble.

At Morris House one of our boys has been working on a project doing a car wash whereby half the proceeds go to Macmillan Charity.  This will go on till end of term.  The project had to be designed through research and budget.  An advertising leaflet was also made with the following details.

My time at The Polygon School

I’ve been at polygon for 5 years, now I’m in year 11 and I have changed a lot since year 7. When I was in year 7 I was misbehaving a lot and staff helped out to the best of their ability. 

I’ve been on a lot of trips like Paultons Park, Marwell zoo and other trips. Overtime I changed and earn't the staff’s respect and trust, there has been some funny moments like telling of appropriate jokes or things happening accidentally. 

Personally this is the best school I’ve been to. The staff at The Polygon try to help and educate pupils. I’ve had some great memories. Thanks to The Polygon I can move on to college with ease. 

For new pupils starting at Polygon I recommend, listening to teachers and doing as asked first time round like taking of coats, jackets and jumpers, handing in belongings like your  phone, money, bags and make some friends.

Readathon - Week 9!

Well done to 3HI for winning the readathon cup on Friday 8th June. 

They read for an average of 33 minutes!

3rd - 3GS and 4AW - 14 minutes
4th - 3CM - 10 minutes

5th - Morris House - 3 minutes

Jaiden is still in first place. Ryan is second and Jerome in third. 

Ryan has almost taken first place from Jaiden. 

3GS are working hard to take third place; Sean is now just behind Jerome. 

Highlights from last half term were:

 - 4AW won their first and second Doddle Champion title for this academic year

- Four different tutor groups across KS3 and KS4 won the six titles on offer during the last half term

 - Four different pupils won the most points for a pupil during the last half term, with JB 3HI winning three of them.

 - 715 pieces of work where completed by x44 pupils - All of 3GS and        3CM completed work during the half term.        

*Well done to the ten KS4 pupils who earnt a certificate for the Doddle Final Sprint Challange:

Jaiden, Ryan and Jerome are still in the lead with their individual reading times but Sean, Oscar, Patryk and Bradley are catching them up - well done 3GS!

Staff complete Triathlon!

Staff push themselves to their limits to raise money for school gym!

Instead of having a restful half term 6 staff members decided to push themselves to their limits both mentally and physically by competing in The Bloodwise Blenheim Palace Triathlon! A triathlon is made up of 3 events swimming, cycling and running.

 

 Mrs Saralis and Mrs Foster swam 800 meters in the chilly Great Lake alongside Eels and Catfish while trying to avoid getting tangled in weed. When they had finished the swim they had a 400 meter run up hill to the transition area where they tagged in Miss Burton and Mrs Ash who cycled for an hour around the Oxfordshire countryside in boiling hot conditions. Then finally came the last leg of the race Miss Waldram and Mr Averion were tagged in to run 6km in the scorching heat to the finish line!

 
Why would staff complete such a tough event on one of the hottest days of the year? As well as improving fitness they have been raising money to go towards a new school gym so all the boys at school can benefit from better sporting facilities. They have raised nearly £600 so far but there is still time to sponsor using the just giving link below.
