 Iceland 2023 - Pupil Reflections

Now that we have been back for a couple of weeks we asked the pupils what their highlights were from their Icelandic Experience.

RL - I really enjoyed the Blue Lagoon and FlyOver Iceland. The trip was great and I can't wait to go back again. I'd like to take my family when I am grown up.

BH - I liked everything about Iceland and I didn't want to come back as I like it so much. The Blue Lagoon was the best.

AMc - The sights were amazing. I loved standing by the waterfalls and the Blue Lagoon. It was great sharing a room with TS and launching the 'trifecta of awesomeness'.

TS - The Ice Cave was really cool as was the Blue Lagoon. I enjoyed it all and it was my first holiday outside the UK.

LP - I was nervous being away from home but I had a great time. Seeing the Geysir erupt was cool and FlyOver Iceland was brilliant. 

TB - I loved the Blue Lagoon, it was so peaceful. The week away was great and I didn't want to come back as I enjoyed Iceland so much.

JW - I enjoyed Iceland a lot. The Blue Lagoon was the best bit but I loved everything we did on the trip.

CS - I was nervous in the Blue Lagoon but I'm glad I did it and it was amazing. I had a great time away and tried lots of new things.

AH - I liked visiting Mr Patchell's school, Blue Lagoon and FlyOver Iceland. It was brilliant all week.

Iceland - Part 5

Our final day has been spent seeing the sights of Reykjavik city. We visited Rainbow Road, Hallgrimskirkja and the local shops. 

The pupils paid for souvenirs themselves from the pocket money they earnt prior to our trip.

We, as staff, have been very impressed by pupils behaviours and they have represented the school in an excellent manner.

Iceland - Part 4

Today was our exploration day. We started early with a visit to Seljalandfoss, a waterfall we has the chance to walk behind. The spray soaked us but all the boys had a great adventure. Skogafoss was next on our list where we walked to the foot of the giant waterfall.

After lunch we moved to Kerid Crater to walk around and inside the dormant volcano. Close by was Geysir where the boys looked in awe of the geysir spray going off every few minutes. Last stop was Selfish, Europe's largest waterfall, it was a great spectacle to end our day.

We were invited to Mr Patchell's House for dinner. The pupils were all well behaved and a credit to themselves and us. 

Iceland - Part 3

Today we started our day by visiting Husaskoli, Mr Patchell’s school in Reykjavik. This link forms part of our International Schools programme. When there pupils gave a presentation to the pupils in Year 7 about our city. Mr Patchell gave us a presentation about Reykjavik. We also joined in with three PE lessons with Year R, Year 4 and Year 7.

We then spent the afternoon Whale Watching. We were lucky enough to see many Humpback Whales jumping very close to our vessel.

We visited the local shop for pupils to compare foods and prices to those at home in Southampton. They took part in a 1000 Krona challenge to buy a drink and healthy snacks. All the pupils paid themselves and it was nice to see them help each other with their prices and Maths skills.

In the evening we went to FlyOver Iceland where we had a fantastic voyage across Iceland’s sights.

Iceland 2023 - Part 2

Today we had a continental breakfast and departed to the Blue Lagoon. When we arrived the boys all enjoyed swimming in the warm water, many enjoyed their face masks too.

We next visited the Bridge Between Two Continents. There was a bridge dividing the European and North American Continental Plates. 

Finally we went to Perlan. While there the pupils visited the Lava Show, Ice Caves and walked a 360 of the observation deck to take in the views of Reykjavik.

Our day ended with Bowling and Pizza. A great day had by all.

Iceland 2023

After a slightly delayed start our group has arrived in Reykjavik, Iceland. The weather is 8 degrees, clear and sunny. We look forward to updating on our adventures.
