International Day of Light 2024
On Thursday 16th of May, it was the International Day of Light. This is a day when we look back and see how light based technologies have influenced and changed many different subjects in and outside of education, such as art, science, cultures and also medicines.
To celebrate this day 3DRB went with an artistic approach and we looked into making cyanotypes. Cyanotypes are a type of photography which involves exposing a special kind of paper or material to natural light and it can create an image with an appropriate amount of time. In the group, the all went around and found some leave, sticks, flowers or some other naturally found items that were on the ground. They arranged those items onto the material sheets and let the sun expose it for around 5 minutes then everyone took a look at what they made. They could see the difference for those who managed to keep theirs completely still and those whos items moved in the wind and how the light effected it.
