Ski trip to Claviere 2026
Claviere, Italy – 2026
The Claviere boys returned home tired but delighted after an incredible week in the Italian Alps. The trip began with a mixture of excitement and nerves, as many students were concerned about flying, skiing, and trying unfamiliar Italian food.

However, the boys quickly rose to the challenge. They were exceptionally well behaved throughout the journey, showing great independence while navigating airport security and passport control. Before long, we had arrived in the Alps, where we were warmly welcomed to our hotel by our representative, Jo, from Equity Travel.
On the first morning, after enjoying a traditional Italian breakfast, we headed to the slopes to collect our equipment and meet our ski instructor, Marco. Thanks to prior practice on the dry slope, the boys made an excellent start. After a short time on the beginner slopes, they progressed to using the chairlift for the first time. While this proved challenging at first—with a few tumbles along the way—they soon gained confidence and mastered it.
We were fortunate to experience beautiful sunshine for most of the week, along with stunning mountain views. Waking up each day to snow-covered peaks in bright sunlight was truly unforgettable.
Marco, our instructor, was very popular with the group. His firm but effective teaching style took a little getting used to, but it quickly earned the boys’ respect. Under his guidance, they made impressive progress and were soon tackling more challenging red runs with confidence.
One day brought much tougher conditions, with heavy snowfall, low visibility, and very cold temperatures. This required intense concentration and teamwork, as the group followed Marco closely and relied on his expertise. It was a valuable experience that demonstrated the boys’ resilience and determination, and it made everyone appreciate the excellent conditions we had enjoyed earlier in the week.
On Thursday, the group took a different route up the mountain and skied across the border into France, visiting the resort of Montgenèvre. After a busy morning on the slopes, the boys enjoyed some time exploring the shops, buying souvenirs, and refuelling with some well-earned food.
The boys impressed not only on the slopes but also during the evenings. Activities included a group meal at a local pizzeria, a movie night, a pool competition, and an exciting sledging session. One of the highlights of the week was an evening trip up the mountain by snowmobile to a traditional log cabin, where everyone enjoyed hot chocolate and crêpes—an unforgettable experience.
As the week came to an end, it was clear that nobody was ready to leave. The trip had been filled with skiing, laughter, and shared experiences, particularly during evening meals where the group reflected on each day’s events.
All of the boys were a credit to themselves, their families, and the school. It was a pleasure to see their confidence grow both on and off the slopes throughout the week.
Finally, a big thank you goes to Jo and the team at Equity Travel, as well as Miss Ifould, for their hard work and organisation in making this such a memorable trip for everyone involved.
