Monster Pumpkins

How quick!!!

Our seeds from the Royal Horticultural Society have taken over a whole bed on the allotment! Though we started off with two seeds, only one made it to the allotment, but it has done well.

In a period of two weeks it has gone from being a flower, to a pumpkin. But if we are to win any awards at the Victoria Country Park Pumpkin festival, we better get feeding it!

Supporting Local Charities

From the Allotment this week

Even though school is closed for the summer holidays, the allotment is still needing to be watered and weeded. But all this hard work is paying off and this week we have been able to give a range of fruit and vegetables to the Society of St James. Angie was very pleased and says everything that we send up will be used in their soup kitchen.

Southampton In Bloom

Southampton In Bloom

Well done to everyone at the Polygon for another great effort for our entries in Southampton In Bloom 2018!

As you can see we were awarded Silver for our Wildlife Garden and Gold for our Garden for Learning and for the Container Project.

The judges were very impressed with the entries for our container gardens, especially with the level of detail each tutor group had worked to. But when asked for a best in school, the prize went to the Morris House entry as Charlie's planting scheme tied in so well with the theme of the garden, it even had electrically powered moving parts! Great use of your science knowledge there Charlie, well done.

Awards for the school

School achieves more awards!

Congratulations to everybody at the school as through our continued hard work we have achieved two further awards!  The school has been awarded:  Pixl Edge Ambassador School and Doddle Centre of excellence - Doddle Advocate School Partner awards.

A Centre of Excellence is an education establishment that Doddle works very closely with to support their vision to improve education for all.  They use innovative education technology to support teachers and engage students and their parents in their learning experience.

The Edge provides a systematic framework to enable schools to develop and capture the student attitudes, attributes and skills which are so important for employment and life beyond school.

Doddle - End of year awards

We run a weekly competition as an incentive on our Doddle to reward success of a tutor group and a pupil.  At the end of this academic year we have added up all the totals and have to say "well done" to 4SK for being the tutor group with the highest total for pieces of work completed on our Doddle 2017/2018.

A special mention should also go to 3HI for being the tutor group with the most weekly Doddle Champion wins during the acadmic year.
