RE - Truth

Year 7 are learning about lots of different creation stories and trying to find their truth about how the Universe was created. 

So far we have learnt and sequenced the Hindu Creation Story, the Christian and Jewish Creation Story and are currently studying the scientific theories of evolution and the Big Bang!

We decided to get creative with conveying our understanding of the Christian creation story and as well as creating comic book strips in our books we created a giant comic book strip outside on the pavement with chalks!

Well done year 7 some great story sequencing, RE knowledge and art work!

 

RE - Hindu Gods

Year 8 have been studying the concept of Good and Evil in RE and researching Hindu Gods. We have discovered that Hindu Gods and Goddesses have some really cool superpowers. After sequencing the story of Rama and Sita pupils are now using their Art skills to represent these Gods through colourful collages and sketches. Which Hindu God is your favourite?

RE - Stewardship Year 8

Year 8 have been studying the Christian concept of Stewardship in RE!

We are exploring our duty to care and protect our planet and the awe and wonder it provides!

As well as classroom based learning we have be out in our school community being active stewards by litter picking. Well done year 8!

 

RE Meditation and mindfulness

 Year 9 have been learning about the Eightfold Path in RE. We have been exploring different ways to practice meditation to ease suffering. Here are the boys taking a moment to clear their thoughts and take part in following 5 minute mindfulness meditations for teens. 

We have discussed that "You cant stop the waves, but you can learn to surf".

Easter Egg Hunt

Despite a little bit of rain our whole school Easter Egg Hunt went ahead today!

Pupils had to find an egg hidden on the school ground with a curriculum focused question on. Once the pupils solved the question they had to report to Miss Kinder to confirm the answer to be allowed through to the egg collection room where they had the choice of an amazing selection of Easter Eggs!

Well done for everyone who participated and won an Egg today we wish everyone a very Happy Easter! 

 

RE - The Good Samaritan

Year 8 have been studying the concept of Agape. 

Today we learnt the story of The Good Samaritan. We saw some excellent acting and understanding of the story. 

Well done to 3DRB for dressing up and being creative with their learning in RE today! 

RE - Year 9 Buddhism

 Year 9 have been learning about the Eightfold Path in RE. We have been exploring different ways to practice mindfulness. Here are the boys taking a moment to create a peaceful ornamental garden. 

RE- Mexican Day of the Dead

Year 7 have been studying the concept of Death in RE. Using knowledge of tables and tally’s from Maths lessons we have completed a survey showing everyone’s views of the afterlife. We have been really respectful and curious about everyone’s different opinions. 

As well as looking at Religious perspectives we have looked at different cultures and had great fun learning about Mexican Day of the Day. 

We have used our Art skills to create decorations for a bright, colourful Alter and began to use correct Mexican vocabulary to describe to Mrs Kinder all the elements to our creation including our very tasty decorated bread.
