Recently we have started a Pokémon after school club. This week we walked to Watts Park to visit a Pokégym and complete a raid!
We also stopped at the war memorial to see if we could find the names of our relatives.
The boys were very sensible crossing the roads and had a lovely end to the day.

The year 7s were invited back for their second visit to Forest School this academic year. We had an exciting half term as pupils developed their confidence and got stuck into a range of activities. It was great to see the boys working together as a team and engaging in new activities. Even Finn the school dog has joined the sessions and the sessions have been enjoyed by all!
We were lucky one week to come across a newt, slow worm and a range of beetles when we went exploring along the edge of the woodlands and in the long grass. Pupils learnt about different habitats and the importance of taking care when examining their findings, making sure to put them back where they found them.
This half term it was also super exciting to see they boys get creative and use their imaginations to create creatures out of clay. Callum used clay and the natural environment to create his own creature in excellent detail. Spencer made a cross bow and Connor made several wood medallions. He then went on to teach others how to make their own which demonstrated fantastic leadership skills.
Spencer, Jacob, Jack and Lewis were being creative on a slightly larger scale. They showed great resilience as they started digging to build their own Polygon Forest School Fort. A task I think they realised was much harder then they thought as the ground was hard and full of roots. Well done for adapting you ideas and not giving up as this was a big learning curve.
Everyone got involved in pond dipping looking for a range of different creatures. We were lucky enough to catch a large amount of smooth newts. The boys used identification guides to identify the types of newt they had caught and learnt how to identify the between the males and females.
Each week a number of pupils enjoy lighting the fire ready for our Forest School chefs. This half term we had pizza wraps, donuts, bacon sandwiches, toasties and pasta carbonara. Not may of the boys had tried carbonara before but they were willing to learn how and give it a try. It was definitely a hit amongst some.
As the weeks warmed up, between playing team games pupils were learning to take some time to relax and chill out in hammocks. They particularly loved the double hammocks. It was lovely watching everyone taking it in turns to try out each hammock and enjoy relaxing in a woodland environment. They even managed to spot some buzzards as they were staring at the sky.
What a super half term Year 7s. Well done you have been fantastic.
Year 8 and 9 Empire Biscuits
Well, it has been a very hot couple of weeks in the cookery room, the air con has broken! (Mr Penfold is getting it fixed). The Year 8 and Year 9 pupils have been busy making Empire Biscuits, they have shown many skills including safe use of the oven, following safety and hygiene rules, weighing and measuring ingredients and decorating biscuits to make them look appealing.

Polygon Pride.
Today is about celebrating the amazing diversity in our school community and celebrating all the wonderful complexities of people that make us individuals.
The rainbow flag may represent the LGBTQ+ community but pride is so much more. Pride celebrates all types of diversity. All races, religions,disabilities, genders, identities and socio -economic backgrounds.
I am proud to have pride in this school. We should all have pride in ourselves and the confidence to be the people we want to be and we should embrace it.
Pride is a celebration of love.

All people have the right to be treated equally and be respected no matter what background they come from and that is what Pride is a celebration of.
Our staff team are proud of you and you should be proud of yourselves.
