As part of the PiXL Challenge, which our school incorporate using the 5 descriptors of Leadership, Organisation, Resilience, Initiative and Communication, 3MB had some varied takes on it this term which was used to good effect.

Preston showed off his leadership, organisation, initiative and communication skills in arranging and refereeing a year 7 5 aside football match which was great to see. The Year 7's loved participating and Preston really enjoyed the whole process from beginning to end.

Meanwhile the rest of 3MB, Roch, Marley, Rio and Tyler decided to film sequence shots on a story they came up with, and particularly enjoyed the creative side of ideas, before setting off into sorting out the props and then finally delivering the action sequences.

3KP creating music in the Apple Store!

As a part of PiXL Edge lesson, Marley organised a trip to the Apple Store for his class. We went to the West Quay shopping centre in Southampton and took part in a Garage Band session. The boys tested different features on the app and created some very good pieces of music.

They also had plenty of opportunities to have a look at and play with a wide range of technology including the newest iPhone 11 Max Pro!

Marley absolutely loves the Apple products, and therefore IF and KHP suggested he could try his luck in a couple of years and perhaps ask for a work experience at the Apple Store. It would be an amazing opportunity for him.

This half term the students at Morris House have been taking part in a variety of offsite activities .

These activities have proven to be fun for the students as well as giving them the opportunity to work on their Social Skills, Work as part of a team, Try something new and increase their Confidence.

The boys have taken part in activities such as Archery, Jacobs Ladder, Low ropes, Vertical challenge , Crate stacking and much more such as rounder's and a visit to a Museum .They even had chance to fit in a visit to the boat show where they were very impressed with the boats they not only saw but got to have a look around.

Two Students from Morris House have also been attending a Work Mobility placement once a week

where they have already learnt to change a tyre and break pads on a car.

STRETCH and Morris House take over YMCA Newtown

STRETCH and Morris House take over YMCA Newtown.

This half-term on Fridays pupils of Morris house and the STRETCH program have visited YMCA Newtown. Whilst they are there the pupils undertake various activities around engagement and personal development. The activities range from sports such as; basketball, football and boxing to activities like having friendly racing matches on a PlayStation. The Pupils are also able to sit down together and have breakfast and chat, as well as play games of pool and many other activities.

3JB walked to Sprinkles today as a reward for excellent behavior all term. We had a lovely time-well done boys for all your hard work! We look forward to seeing you again next week after a well deserved break!

Polygon's school Art work

The school have been studying Van Gogh’s work and doing work in the style of Van Gogh. To do this, the pupil’s used thick acrylic paint to show the brush strokes and add texture to the painting, like Van Gogh did. The lower school have been studying Van Gogh’s ‘sunflower’ painting and learning new techniques while they do it (stippling) while the upper school have been studying Van Gogh’s portraits and landscapes and doing work based off of them. Some pupils’ have even used oil pastels to show Van Gogh’s work.

Some of 3AW went to the boat show and had a great time! While there, the pupils looked at some very expensive boats and were even allowed on some of them! The pupils even had a race with remote-controlled boats too!

3AW have also done very well to adjust to a new school and new routines this half term, and they should be proud of themselves!

3HI Explore the New Forest

Over the last three weeks 3HI have been out and about exploring the New Forest in search of wildlife. Each week we have been lucky enough to see the pigs in the forest as well as cattle, ponies, donkeys, deer and even a heron. The boys have been on several walks some more challenging then others and have even had a go at catching their surroundings on camera and tried their hand at photography.
