Sharing our cookery

Yesterday the year 7 boys made a Cous Cous dish in cookery. It was a very healthy snack as it has cucumbers, peppers, tomatoes and apricots. It went down a treat with the boys...and Miss Bufton! Well done year 7! I look forward to seeing what you make next week.
Dig in boys!

IKEA Sustainability Visit 2017

3HI visited IKEA to see how they are working on their sustainability within the store and globally.

But first, a mannequin challenge!

All Heart at Morris House

Dissecting a heart. Surprisingly smelly, but very interesting.

Thermite reaction with Year 7

Year 7 pupils exploring reactions. Our favourite was the displacement reaction where we use a more reactive metal to displace a less reactive metal, seen in this thermite reaction.

Can you remember where they may use thermite reactions locally?

Animal Cells

Keystage 4 exploring cells by taking samples of their own cheeks cells and observing the results using microscopes.

Animal Cells with Morris House

Morris House pupils hard at work exploring the structure of cells, how these basic building blocks of life combine to make tissues, organs, organ systems and ultimately organisms.

Waste Week 2017

Well done to everyone for all their efforts to reduce waste especially during Waste Week. During our Bags2School collection we saved over 80kg of items from the landfill!

Don't forget to recycle all your ink cartridges with Mr Morley and Miss Burton, not only will it reduce land fill, but will raise some funds for the school.

Bags2School & Waste Week

Thank you to everyone who brought bags of clothing and other recyclable items into school during our Waste Week Bag2School Collection.

We college over 80kg of items which will be recycled helping to reduce landfill waste.

The money raised will go towards this summer's trip to Iceland.

Special thanks to 3HI who collected the largest amount and received a special prize to be shared out amongst the group.

Tadpoles

Thanks go to Lewis for bringing tadpoles in again for us this year.

Keep an eye on the blog as we keep you updated with how they are growing.

Wear a Hat Day 2017!

On the 31st March The Polygon School once again participated in Wear a Hat Day as part of Brain Tumour Awareness Month.

This national charity day raises awareness and money for Brain Tumour Research.

All week during breakfast club the pupils learnt about the devastating effects brain tumours have, especially in young people and were shown the great fundraising work Brain Tumour Research is doing to try and prevent this.

Staff and pupils bought official badges and wristbands and were invited to wear a hat all day on Friday and donate to show their support.

Everyone looked fantastic in their hats, we all learnt a lot and had fun and we made an amazing £175.12!
Thankyou to all staff, pupils and parents who supported, if you'd like to learn more or donate you can visit www.braintumourresearch.org
