Saints Foundation Careers Day

 Saints Foundation Careers Day

4PR were invited to attend St Mary's Stadium this week to take part in the Saints Foundation Careers Day. While there the pupils took part in sessions around 'Dressing for an Interview', 'Setting a hospitality table' and 'Interview Practice Skills'. They also had the chance to have a dressing room tour and go pitch side as well as visit the control booth and see how the lighting, big screen displays and sound engineering operated in the stadium.

The pupils all engaged well and were a credit to the school.

Polygon Platform

 Polygon Platform 4NA

4NA have been lucky enough to work in collaboration with the Saints Foundation to do work experience at Southampton Central Station.

This exciting opportunity will continue next academic year as well, with other classes being given the chance to take part.

The boys have all really enjoyed this experience and put a lot of effort into every task they've been assigned!

Some of the boys favorite jobs were the more hands on ones like litter picking; they'd have competitions on who could collect the most litter.

South Western Railway Visit

Last week we welcomed staff from South Western Railway to deliver a workshop alongside the Saints Foundation around the dangers of the railway and how to use public transport appropriately.

Pupils engaged in conversations around safety, how to use crossings correctly and how to use help buttons at stations for themselves and others.

Pupils were told about the potential risks of misuse of the railways in terms of risk to life and financial penalties. They were also shown two case study videos from the perspective of a train driver who has had a near miss and a teenager who has been electrocuted locally on a railway.

Well done to all the pupils who took part in the session and for South Western Railway for their visit.

Visits like this are a great opportunity to enhance our cross-curricular links in PSHE, Citizenship and Wellbeing.  The school is also working towards a HH5 and Eco School framework which includes personal safety and transport. Within work skills lessons we encourage employee encounters and this was a great chance for pupils to ask questions to staff who work hands on for South Western Railway.
