Key Stage 4 Work Experience!

Key Stage 4 Work Experience 4SK

Tom and Arron have been doing extremely well on their work placements this week. Arron has been gaining experience as a teaching assistant at St Marks primary school in Shirley, while Tom has been working in the IT services department at CAPITA. Both boys have had glowing reports from their supervisors and we are all extremely proud of them. After visiting both boys this morning, I was delighted to find Arron being a super role model to the year 3 and 4 pupils, the children on his table were engaged in learning and all doing their Maths work! Tom has been completing IT solution tasks and has gained experience in all the different IT departments including software installation, customer support and hardware. I know he was excited to visit the server room and I hope we will have some more pictures to post soon! Very well done boys!

Drama, English and Knights!!!

Along with what we are studying in English, Knights of the Round Table, Chaucer and Beowulf, 3LL got into the spirit of Knights in Drama today.
We started by reading off a short script about a Knight in battle, and proceeded to choreograph a battle scene as characters, such as King, Soldiers, Monsters and Knights.

Our trip to Marwell Zoo

Last week we went to Marwell Zoo as an end of year treat from the Rotary club.
The whole school went on a coach, the weather was lovely and we all had a fantastic day!
Here are a few pictures I took whilst with the Year 7 group.

The Great get Together at the Polygon!

On Friday Miss Brobson  organised a Great get Together in the form of a tea party as a celebration of Jo Cox's (former MP who was killed last year) belief that we all have more in common than that which divides us. To show this we made webs of connections with string across the hall for each thing that we had in common.
Here are some of our pictures from this lovely afternoon-thank you Miss Brobson for all your hard work and to those boys who helped make cakes and sandwiches-they were yummy!

Releasing the butterflies

Since half term, we have been watching caterpillars metamorphosise into butterflies in the science classroom!  The last of our butterflies hatched at the start of the week, so this Friday it was time to release them into their natural habitat.

Our hatched butterflies in their classroom habitat
They were unsure at first...

...but the butterflies soon started enjoying the smells and colours of the flower beds!

We hope they will stay around the school grounds to help pollinate our plants!

Macbeth

During last term the KS3 students worked on a poster for Macbeth and writing a letter to Malcolm as Macduff to persuade him to raise an army against Macbeth.  We looked at persuasive techniques such as Alliteration and Rhetorical Questions.  During the process in Drama we acted scenes using a tele-prompter and background music to create atmosphere.
