Christmas Cooking at The Polygon

 At Christmas we all really enjoy our cookery lessons. The boys are given a choice of what they would like to cook from:

* Mince Pies

* Peppermint Creams

* Gingerbread people

As you can see, gingerbread people are very popular!

Riley also made some Chocolate Bark which looked amazing!

Christmas Swimming Fun

We have had so much fun this morning with our Christmas themed swimming session. 

Check out the photos of pupils creating Christmas Cakes, decorating Christmas trees and the reindeers pulling Santa's sleigh delivering presents!

All the pupils have worked so hard with their swimming this term and we look forward to celebrating tomorrow in our awards assembly where pupils will receive ASA Swimming Awards for their distance Swimming. 

A BIG thank you as always to all the amazing staff at Shirley Swimming Pool who welcome us every Thursday and have even started hosting work experience for a pupil who wants to become a lifeguard. We cant wait to be back in 2024!

A BIG Thank you from The Polygon!

We have had another magical Christmas here at The Polygon due to some amazing kindness of local companies who have generously donated presents to the pupils. I think their faces in the following photos say it all! 

A special mention has to go out to Family Action for partnering us up with the local companies Evelyn Partners Chartered Accountants and South Central Ambulance Service NHS Trust. 

We would also like to thank Envirocare for always adding that little bit extra! 

From all the staff and the pupils at The Polygon a huge thank you for making this Christmas a memorable one it truly was a special day.

Christmas Dinner Day

We are having such a fantastic Christmas Week at The Polygon!

All of the staff worked so hard to put together an amazing Christmas Lunch for us all to enjoy!

A BIG thank you to all the amazing cooks, waiters. waitresses and party planners you make Christmas so special for us all! 

It was great to see pupils in festive clothing or their new clothes from the Pop up Shop.

 

Pop up Shop!

 As part of our Eco School work and Citizenship education every Christmas we run a Pop up Shop where we explain the value of recycling fast fashion and what amazing quality clothes you can get without the expensive price tag! 

Our pupils have embraced this idea yet again and have loved picking some amazing clothing and cuddly toys all ready for the Christmas break! It’s great to see the pupils expressing their unique style and individuality!

It's beginning to look a lot like Grinchmas in English

 

Grinchmas has arrived

This December in English we have been getting into the festive spirit completing work around Dr. Seuss's 'The Grinch who stole Christmas'. However what started out as a KS3 English lesson has evolved into a whole school Christmas celebration, with pupils from all across the school taking part in the coloring in of various characters from the story to create a display, competing in Blooket quizzes, listening to staff read the book, watching the film, as well as a variety of other activities relating to it. This has created a festive atmosphere around school and from the English department we wish you a merry Grinchmas too. 

KS4 Maths

 KS4 Math's

This term in KS4 math's we have been learning about different charts, diagrams and graphs. 

The pupils had to learn how to use a compass and protractor to create the diagrams. This means measuring carefully and accurately to ensure that their pie charts are correct.

The boys have made a variety of different charts including stem and leaf, pie charts, scatter graphs, bar charts, pictograms and venn diagrams.

the pupils have enjoyed interacting with the Smart board technology to further their understanding of the topic.
