Cresstastic Update: Eggciting Times!

The students tried out their home grown cress in some sandwiches today.

Looking forward to the salads we're growing in our propagators.

Perhaps some mayonnaise next time?

Chinese New Year Assembly

Last week we had an assembly to celebrate Chinese New Year. The whole school learnt about their Zodiac sign and the ways in which New Year is celebrated in China.

This included some tasty treats prepared by KS4 including "Gyoza" and "Shumai", lantern making and little red envelopes full of "Yen" which are given on New Year to bring luck and prosperity.

Silent Minds Vlog Workshop at City Art Gallery (25.01.2020)

On Saturday 25th January, Jaiden and Miss Long went to the Silent Minds Vlog workshop held at the city Art Gallery.

We learnt how to vlog properly-finding appropriate content and locations for filming, and helped make a vlog to campaign about the negative influences of social media.
Jaiden did the school very proud as he was confident in giving his ideas and contributed well to the session.

The Vlog we filmed will be shown in the interval at the Silent Minds production in June at the Nuffield Theatre.

Proper Propagation

Proper Propagation

This week, the boys were given the chance of choosing what they wanted to try and grow in the propagators whilst learning about germination.

The propagators will be left in the south facing windows of the school, and since some interesting choices were made, let's wait and see if we have some interesting results.

Meet the Mayor

Pupils from the Polygon School visited the Mayor of Southampton today at the Civic Centre.

The pupils have been learning about democracy in their PSHE and Citizenship lessons and so had lots of questions about his role of mayor.

We were very lucky to be shown around the different rooms that the mayor uses in his role, and see some of the items on display for visitors.

The pupils will soon be going to Iceland helped from a grant from the British Council Schools Exchange programme.  They will share all they have learnt with pupils from the Husaskoli school in Rekyavik, and in turn learn about democracy in Iceland.
