It was a tremendous surprise to find out that the sixty two schools who gained the British Council International School Award this year have been celebrated in the Times Educational Supplement (TES). It is fantastic that our global journey, hard work within school & the local community and our excellent school exchange visit has been recognised. "Congratulations to everybody!"
Year 8 and 9 have been learning about the concept of Stewardship. Stewardship is the religious idea that people have been given a special responsibility to be in charge of the Earth, to protect and care for it.
At The Polygon we understand that everything in life starts with your mindset. Your mindset is how you think about yourself and the world around you. This has been pivotal for teaching as part of our PSHE recovery curriculum as it’s the foundation of your success and happiness!
As part of developing a positive mindset we have been looking at appreciation and gratitude. Appreciation is the skill of noticing what is good in our lives and gratitude is the quality of thankfulness for our blessings and the opportunities to grow, the silver lining to our struggles.
Our whole school gratitude tree is our reflection of 2020 and
shows despite many changes and disruption both at school and at home we appreciate
what we do have and the positive in our lives. We are going to hold on to this
and take our gratitude and positive mindset into 2021!

Celebrating Success...
What a great way to start International Education Week than by attending the British Council Award Ceremony 2020 online. It was a privilege to represent our school and attend the global celebration in recognition of our second re-accreditation to the International Schools Award.
The award is twenty one years old this year and we should be very proud that we are one of only sixty two schools to achieve the award this year!
The ceremony also reached out across the world to highlight the work the British Council does globally, as seen in the pictures below from International Schools in Lebanon:

Mr Patchell would like to say "Congratualtions & thank you to everybody for all of their help" with our international work, with a big highlight being our British Council School Exchange to Iceland in March of this year! It is fantastic to be recognised for the achievements our school does in embedding and celebrating an international dimension in the curriculum, so that our pupils become better global citizens of the world.
Don't forget we recycle them at school. This helps the environment and also helps raise money for The Friends of The Polygon.
