KS4 Army Careers Day

 KS4 Army Careers Day

Our KS4 pupils were recently part of a 'drop down day' hosted the the Army. Pupils usual timetables were suspended and instead sessions and workshops were put on involving the Army.

Pupils had a Careers talk and briefing in the hall to start their day before splitting in to three group to rotate workshops. The workshops were Bridge Building, Tyres and Wheelbarrows. All tasks involved the pupils showing good communication, leadership and teamwork to achieve their end goals.

The final session took place in teams where the object was to follow instructions and construct a tank.

Our thank go to our visitors for the highly engaging day and it was fantastic to see the pupils involved, learning and enjoying themselves.

Look out for an in school display about our Careers Days coming soon

Year 7 Hendy Ford Careers Visit

Year 7 Hendy Ford Careers Visit

Last week our Year 7 pupils were fortunate enough to be invited to visit the Hendy Ford site in Chandler's Ford. Pupils spent the morning on site meeting a wide variety of staff as well as participating in tours and workshops.

Pupils spoke to Apprentice Service Technicians and Salespeople as well as leaders in the sales team.

The workshop manager gave the pupils a tour of the repairs workshops and high performance centre. We even visited the used car sales centre and helped to price up a car about to go on the forecourt.

The trip was rounded off with the cars on the showroom floor being unlocked for the pupils to have a sit inside. They sat in vans, trucks and high spec cars such as the Ford Mustang.

The pupils learnt a great deal about the wide range of careers and jobs available at the site and in the automotive industry. Our thanks go to the staff at Hendy Ford for hosting us for the morning.

Guinea Pig Visit to 4PR

 Guinea Pig Visit to 4PR

One of the Year 9 pupils in 4PR has an interest in Guinea Pigs. In our Wellbeing and Citizenship sessions he has spoken to the class group about his interests and told us all he had 11 Guinea Pigs as pets.

Off of the back of these conversations he asked if a couple of his pets could come to school for a visit.

With the permission of Mr Penfold, and the willingness of his Mum to act as a taxi driver for a short time, three Guinea Pigs visited us in our Citizenship lesson.

All of the pupils in 4PR petted them and helped to feed them. Some even experienced what happened when a Guinea Pig needed the toilet.

This visit was a great example of how pupils hobbies and interests can be shared across the wider school community. It was lovely to see pupils ask questions about how to care for, play with and feed the Guinea Pigs and the visitors seemed to enjoy the lesson with 4PR too.
