Careers Based Virtual Contact

We had another successful virtual contact session this morning introducing our boys to the flying start website. It was great so see the boys log in from home and school engage in the opportunity.

The website is a really useful tool with lots of links to different resources and information. You can access the website easily buy clicking on the link below.

During the session we learnt how to navigate the pages and even had a go at using the wheel of strength tool which can helps you discover which jobs could suit you by selecting your current skills, interests and personality traits. This is an easy and  fun exercise to do.

Thank you Mr Rooke for running us through the pages, and a big well done to Ryan who has logged in and already had a go-  his possible careers included becoming a business analyst, accountant or energy engineer! We look forward to hearing more about your results in our next Virtual session on Monday 13th July.

See you all soon!

Virtual Contact

In addition to the onsite learning opportunities, our year 10 pupils have had the ongoing opportunity to take part in virtual learning and contact sessions. It has been great to see the boys even if it has been through the screen!

Over the sessions we have been engaging in a range of different activities including maths and brain teaser challenges. We hope that in the coming weeks the boys will feel confident enough to expand their virtual learning program.

Thursday's session  will have a careers based focus, we will be discussing future career pathways and introducing our pupils to the Flying start website.

Flying Start Southampton is funded by the SUN Network and is designed to aid young people leaving school with any challenges they have in terms of their next steps. The website was launched to "fill a gap" in Careers education and information when Year 11 ended earlier than planned.
The focus of the site is in three sections. Section 1: Making a plan for your future, Section 2: Developing your study skills and Section 3: Subject specific support.

Although the site is aimed at Year 11's it is also being used by Year 9 and up pupils for information, advice and signposting.

We hope to see lots of you logging in tomorrow!
