Spring has arrived!

Today we started our sunflower competition. AW were first to plant their sunflower seeds. We will be monitoring them each week and measuring them to see how tall they will grow.

Book Week in RE and PSHE

It's like Christmas in the PSHE and RE department this week as our new books have been delivered and just in time for Book Week!

KS4 pupils have had a great lesson exploring our exciting new texts! Look out for shelves going up in room 4 and our new PSHE library opening! 

ALL books are available for boys to borrow and it's been great to see pupils already showing interest and enjoying our new texts! 

RSE in action

KS4 did an amazing job during a practical RSE lesson learning how different sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including HIV/AIDs, are transmitted, how risk can be reduced through safer sex (including through condom use) and the importance of and facts about testing. We discussed the prevalence of some STIs, the impact they can have on those who contract them and key facts about treatment. Our friendly STI's toys and card game made this an informative and enjoyable lesson the boys will remember! 

                                        

Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) and Health Education are statutory in all secondary schools, including local authority maintained schools, academies, free schools and independent schools.

At The Polygon, we are very proud of our PSHE programme of study. PSHE is the curriculum subject that gives young people the knowledge, understanding, attitudes and practical skills to live safe, healthy, productive lives and meet their full potential so we will continue to develop and work to provide the best outcomes for all of our pupils in this subject. Online learning in RE

Online learning is new for all of us but I have been extremely impressed with the conversations and work produced by boys in RE since Christmas. 

Some of the written evaluations for concepts have been exceptional and I love seeing all of your artefacts from home. 

I can't wait to see you all back in class but a huge well done with how you have all adapted to this new style of learning.

Frog Spawn!

 AW has been studying frog spawn, and released it into our pond in our outdoor learning area. 

Rethink Periods Ambassador

Mrs Foster is very excited to share her knowledge about Periods after attending a Rethink Periods course lead by the fantastic team at City to Sea! She is also very keen to share the resources from the amazing goodie box she has been sent!   

Rethink Periods is a free, nationwide schools programme updating mainstream period education in primary and secondary schools. It offers unbiased and informative information on all products available and the social and environmental contexts of menstruation. We are now Rethink Period Ambassadors at The Polygon and happy to share resources and understanding we have. 

The boys have all been very intrigued as always and asking lots of sensible questions in PSHE lessons.
