4SK had a brilliant lesson hunting for life in our school pond.  We are also really pleased to see that our frogspawn has hatched and our pond is full of tadpoles.

ICT Year 7 - Micro:bit

In ICT we have been using micro: bits to code in a variety of ways. The pupils created codes to play Rock, Paper, Scissors and 20 Questions. They have had to input codes for words and shapes using different functions and inputs. All of the pupils have engaged well and have shown great teamwork by helping and supporting each other.

Polygon staff fundraiser for City Catering

The 10,000 Step-a-day challenge has come to an end!

Well done to everyone who joined it and made a brilliant effort to get their steps done everyday for the last month.

Collectively, we did over 8.5 MILLION steps which is equivalent to about 4,250 miles!

We would like to thank our sponsors for raising £823 which will allow City Catering to provide the local families affected by food poverty with tasty and nutritious meals.

Citizenship and Picture News

As part of the citizenship curriculum, each tutor group learn and reflect upon topical and current issues each week in the form of picture news. This weeks question was based on the following news story:

The Union Jack will be flown on UK Government buildings every day of the year under plans to celebrate the United Kingdom’s heritage and pride. Ministers are set to issue new guidance this week to get the world-famous flag displayed all year round – not just on designated days. Under current guidance, the flag is only required to be flown on all UK Government buildings in England, Wales and Scotland on special days, such as the Queen’s birthday.

The move comes after BBC Breakfast presenters Charlie Stayt and Naga Munchetty were accused of making fun of Communities Secretary, Robert Jenrick, for displaying the Union Jack in his office. That sparked a backlash from the Corporation and a statement from director-general Tim Davie that the BBC is ‘proud to be British’.

As a class, we had a sensible discussion around the issue and independently recorded our thought for the class scrapbook

KS4 coursework NCFE Health and Fitness

KS4 Synoptic Assessment

Our KS4 boys have been busy working towards achieving their synoptic assessment for the level 1/2 technical award in health and fitness. As part of this coursework, the pupils are required to assess fitness levels for different components and design training programmes for each other. They have made a fabulous start to their work and we will be working hard after Easter to meet our submission deadlines.

Well done boys and keep up the great work.
