Quiche!

Recently KS4 have made quiches. They first made their pastry dough so that they could line and blind bake these before we added the fillings in the next lesson.
They were learning the importance of shortening the gluten strands by covering them with fat during the rubbing in method to make delicious crumbly pastry.
They tasted amazing!

KS3 Year 9 English

Gothic Horror

The half-term just gone the year 9 pupils were exploring Gothic Horror stories. They studied the book 'The Woman in Black' looking at the characters, themes and settings of Gothic horror before planning their own.

They have then had the opportunity to either write or type their stories. This has led to a week of all pupils excitedly writing their short stories, each pupil had set a specific goal of how many words/pages they wanted their stories to be. They have all worked incredibly hard and beat those goals, with the most stories being a minimum of two pages long. They should be super proud of the hard work they have achieved during this unit! Well done Year 9's!

SCLT Online Safety

ONLINE SAFETY

Our school is a member of the Southampton Co-operative Learning Trust. This is a group for schools in Southampton to share and work together for the better of the pupils.

On Wednesday 22 May, the trust schools got together to workshop ideas for an upcoming Online Safety campaign that will be supported by Arts Work. The SCLT wanted to bring together pupils from all the schools and with a range of different ages to collaborate on ideas.

Josh and Leo where chosen to represent Key Stage 3 from The Polygon. They did fantastically well to contribute their ideas and give their opinions on how social media has an influence on young people today.

Your Future Career Event

 Your Future Career Event

Today pupils in KS4 visited the 'Your Future' Career Event. This was hosted at Solent University and involved local colleges, Universities and employers, all on hand to give the pupils information about courses, apprenticeships, training programmes and job roles on offer.

Pupils spoke to a variety of the exhibitors in order to explore their own career interests and options for their next steps.
