Fishing Finds!

As part of their engagement sessions through the Stretch Program at Morris House, Ewan, Harry and a few of the other boys have been going fishing together every week, and despite some poor weather have really looked forward to it before it comes around. This week in particular the boys found a boat and decided take it on as a project to repair it and get it back floating.

Through teamwork and effort, they managed to empty it of water and get it on land together, and it’s been quite nice to see that this as reflected into their relationships back on site at Morris House too. We look forward to seeing if they can get it to stay afloat again!

Personal Development trip with Wetwheels

                 Powerboating with Wetwheels!!

This week as part of Personal development, we returned to Wetwheels down at Hamble marina for a trip out on the Solent.

This was a ‘first ever school trip’ for a couple of pupils and some were coming as role models to the newer boys, but all really enjoyed themselves and made the most of the unexpected sunshine…by getting drenched from the sea spray!!
It was a fun day had by all. So a huge Thankyou to the guys at Wetwheels for a great afternoon once again.

2024 English writing competition

English writing competition

Every academic year the English department do a writing competition based upon a different theme. The pupils have the opportunity to take part in their English lessons and try to complete the challenge as independently as possible Mr.  Penfold and Miss Kinder then pick a winner for Ks3 and Ks4.

The 2024 theme was the 'Paris Olympics' the pupils had to write an extended piece of writing based on the Olympics, it could be around competing, watching the games, the origins of the Olympics or anything else related that they could think of.

All the pupils worked really hard on their pieces but this years winners are; for Ks3: Marzell
 and for Ks4: Tyler.

Their stories are being proudly displayed in the bottom corridor for the rest of this year.

Trip to PGL-Marchants Hill

        ADVENTURE TIME @ PGL

Last week 10 boys headed off to PGL-Marchants hill surrey, for 3 days and 2 nights off adventure for a team building experience in preparation for an upcoming abroad trip.

Everyone had a great time doing a range of activities including, Riffle shooting, Jacobs ladder, the Giant swing and Paddle boarding.

Everyone really enjoyed themselves, built resilience by pushing themselves out of their comfort zones and certainly faced some fears on the giant swing!

The trip was ended with a game of indoor Archery tag, where the pupils got their chance to fire arrows at Mr Betlem, Miss Ifould and Mr Bartlett....there were some successful hits on target sadly!!

Thanks to all the staff at PGL for making it a very enjoyable trip for us!

DT (Design Technology) Chocolate Boxes and Chocolate Making

In DT recently pupils have been designing and making their own chocolate boxes. Here are some of their designs below. After designing the boxes the boys made their own chocolate bars by melting and molding chocolate.

I particularly like "Gamer White" designed by Devlin-a chocolate bar designed for gamers with added electrolytes to keep you up and gaming all night!

CEMEX Careers Day

 CEMEX Careers Day

Recently, 4PR were invited to go to St Mary's Stadium who hosted a Careers Day from CEMEX.

CEMEX is based in Southampton and provides building supplies across the south of England. These are dredged from the sea bed, brought back to shore, refined and distributed.

While there we had talks from various areas within the business and tours of the docks, machinery used and the dredger that was in port.

We all learnt a lot about this local business and career opportunities they offer.
