World Book Day
This year for World Book Day we took part in a variety of events over multiple subjects during the course of the week. As a school we particiapted in dressing up as our favourite story characters on the 5th March (where we had some great costumes), as well as doing our annual trip to Waterstones on the 6th March. The students also took part in a school wide quiz about teachers reading habbits.
Alongside that we also took part in:
English: We held a book cafe, in which students had the time and oppertunity to spend their English lessons reading and talking about topics that interested them from cars to anime and more. The students also had the oppertunity to do a football quiz, listen to Nathanael Lessore give a talk about his new book and how he got into writing, as well as do quizzes to find out which book character they are.
Art: In Art the students spent a day desiging the National World Book Day tokens, putting their ideas, characters they love and anything else that inspires them on to them.
CDT: Had the oppertunity to go behind the scenes on the making of some of the props and set designs for the Harry Potter films.
PSHE: For PSHE pupils looked into the mental health benefits of reading, as well as practiced their oracy skills through telling jokes and reading to each other outloud.
Below are some photos from both the book cafe and of students dressing up.
