The Great Escape with PR/HI and BR

Monday 4th July

First day of The Great Escape and Year 8 and Year 9 had a brilliant day of water based activities. Everyone took part and had so much fun, over coming fears beyond the swimming pool.

Working as pairs or teams they were all able to gain confidence and have smile upon their faces.

Tuesday 5th July

Staff against the Pupils! who do you think won???

Afternoon Activity

Goals
Mr Betlem Kindly organised the whole school tournament at Goals in Southampton for all pupils. It was fantastic to see the mixed team work together and have fun.

Thursday 7th July
SWAC Sailing

What a perfect day for sailing! it was really windy meaning all these teams were able to sail the water with the power of the wind. Everyone really enjoyed the activity and we as staff were very pleased to see Lucas take part in something completely out of his comfort zone!

The sailing required team work and communication so that everyone stayed balanced on the boat!

Give us a smile Jamie....

Afternoon Activities

It was a fantastic afternoon organised by Miss Ifold, who planned a campfire and activities for HI and PR to do. We sat and had lunch and played lots of different games like hide and seek and '99 in'. There were many other games too. Those who choose to stay by the campfire made some lovely bread, which some tried the next day.

Again Lucas did amazingly and joined in with all the games, he was the best pupil at hiding! while Brendon and Linkin where the fastest. However the ultimate winners had to be Mr Betlem and Mr Rooke! they were too good at hiding too!

Everyone had a brilliant day and look forward to going to Itchen Valley Country park for more adventures!

Group Photo...CHEESE!!
Lucas doesn't do photos, I asked him to smile... but he didn't until Mr Rooke tried out the same facial expression as him, that made Lucas smile! Even David laughed too!

Friday 8th July

What a Hot, Hot, Hot day!

How do you smile then david?

Artswork "Day to Create"

The Polygon School have taken part in the “Day to Create” project as set out by Artswork which will be shared with the Arts Council England.

We used wooden cutlery and gave pupils the instruction to create a character/personify their item.

All of our boys really enjoyed doing this-even some that said they were not going to take part joined in once they saw others creating such amazing characters!

Lots of the pupils chose to make people they know or make people associated with their interests, for example we had a basketball player made, a chef and a soldier

The staff joined in too and we had great fun.

This morning Mrs. Hendon-John and Miss Long went to Palmerston Park to display our creations in town where they can be seen by all. We hope that as the Commonwealth torch is being taken through town, people take the opportunity to admire our works of art!

Here are some quotes from our experience:

“The children were really into it they enjoyed being creative with their fork people”-Miss Ross-Barton.

“Some of these are so creative and cheerful! I just love Mr. Banana Man! (Made by Kenzie Year 7)”-Miss Long

“That's lovely brightens up everyone's day”-a lady said this while passing us this morning when putting the display together.

One man stopped to take photos of it before we had even finished! A man from the city council also came over to admire them!

Thank you everyone at The Polygon for your creative contributions. We hope these have made everyone smile!

Embracing our historic city!

Today 3NA and 3AW enjoyed exploring our amazing city and learnt a little bit about its history!

Everyone had an excellent morning learning about the Titanic and using all the interactive displays at the Sea City Museum.
