Forest School Fun!!!
The new school year brought new and exciting Forest school locations. Miss Ifould put her Outdoor Adventure thinking cap on and came up with some great new locations to keep the boys excited and inspired.
We took the year 11 class 4NA and year 9 3NA who worked well together and joined in on all activities as one, showing great team work.
Sometimes, you don’t even have to leave the city to find a fantastic nature spot. Here, the boys are enjoying the wilderness of Southampton Common.
Wherever we go, Forest School is always a place where the boys can make their own choices about what they want to do. They have plenty of options — from games like 15, Hide and Seek, and Sardines, to simply exploring the area around them.
The hammocks are always a huge hit, especially with the older boys, who often like to relax and immerse themselves in the natural surroundings rather than race around playing games.
This term, we tried something completely new by visiting the Netley Abbey ruins. The boys absolutely loved this location — they were fascinated by the building itself and captivated by its history and atmosphere. It really sparked their imaginations as they wondered what each room was used for and what might have happened there over the centuries.
And what better way to feel like you’ve stepped back into medieval times than with a good game of laser tag among the fallen ruins and secret hideouts!
We finished our first term of Forest School sessions by heading to a new location in the New Forest. We are never happier as a school than when we’re close to the water — scrambling, jumping, and exploring in and around the river.
Our next spot, at Blackwater Enclosure, saw the boys end up suitably soaked and happily worn out after a lively game of hide and seek. We always encourage and support the boys in managing risk and learning to judge and navigate challenging situations when we’re off site… and really, who doesn’t love a rope swing?!
Well done to all the boys who took part in the Forest School sessions this term — getting involved, using their imagination, and showing great resilience when they were soaked, muddy, and unable to find Mr Betlem!
